I have been training with John for over a year, and only because I had to move did my training sessions end.
I would strongly recommend John if you feel like you need something fun and very high impact. Some sessions in particular made me ache next day and I only short 40 minutes workouts left me feeling stronger and with energy overload.
I absolutely loved every session with John (used to have 3 times a week). Now John and I are still in touch and if I need any advice he happily drops me a message.

In January of 2011 I found myself around seven stone overweight and very unfit. I had been very committed throughout my thirties to avoiding exercise at all costs, to extremely indulgent eating habits and I really started paying the price for this in my forties. I really struggled to waddle alongside my dog for more than a mile and tying my shoelaces was a real effort. During a weak moment in February I stumbled across a boxercise class at the Virgin Active Health Club and thought that I'd give it a go. John Donovan was leading the class and welcomed his new victim warmly. Surprisingly, I found the experience enjoyable and decided that I'd give it another go as soon as I recovered the use of my arms and legs. This took a little longer than I expected so John suggested that I joined his boot camp. I soon decided to book PT sessions with John and have continued with this regime since. John has also managed all aspects of my nutrition and I have exchanged beers and curry for a very clean wholefood programme. The benefits to my health have been remarkable in under six months I have lost 5 stone, increased my muscle mass to 82%, dramatically reduced my BP from dangerous to very healthy levels and am now running half marathon distances at weekends. I only expected to lose a few pounds but John has guided me every step of the way on a journey where the possibilities seem endless. I will be running the London Marathon next year, have several half marathons booked for this year and have completed a 10k and Spartan obstacle race to date. All of this took a fair degree of commitment but with John's guidance I have enjoyed every moment, however painful, of this experience so far. John brings a rare combination of knowledge, experience, passion and motivational skills to his training and nutrition programmes. He delivers painful instruction with a smile and commits fully to his clients achieving their goals. I am very grateful to John for changing my life so much for the better and recommend him without reservation.

Best trainer in the world. Number one. John was my personal trainer for more than one year, he is a great person and after so many training sessions he becomes your friend, the training sessions are fun, always something new and creative, you will never get bored as he will push you to the limits and the results are fantastic, and my boxing classes with him were amazing, always looking forward to the next session. I'm really happy that I chose him to be my PT as he saw the potential in me and now I'm training to become a PT. John has helped me get fitter than I ever thought I could be - I've suffered from back problems for many years, but John has been attentive and always careful, and put together a working plan for me, always asking how I'm getting on and making sure nothing I do is causing any problems. In the time I've known him I've lost heaps of body fat, got muscle tone that looks great, and got much greater levels of fitness and energy than ever before. That boy knows what he's doing!
